Water Meter Replacement Project - FINAL NOTICE
From the North Caldwell Water Department:  If you have not yet done so, you must have your water meter replaced.  Meter replacement is mandatory for all water customers.  Please contact MeterTek at 800-717-0974 as soon as possible or visit their website at https://metertek.net/meter-appointment.  The deadline for meter conversion is February 14, 2024.  Any homeowners who have not converted their  water meter by the deadline will incur quarterly a penalty of $50 per quarter.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Water Meter Readings Notice 10/27/2023
In line with prior communications, the Borough of North Caldwell has commenced a borough wide water meter replacement project requiring all water meters to be replaced. Meter replacement is mandatory for all water customers. These new meters will ensure accurate and equitable water billing for our customers by automating meter reading.

New meters have been installed in nearly half of properties throughout the Borough and the remaining installations are intended to be completed before the end of the calendar year.

There will be a transition period as we await the installation of the radio frequency antennas that will complete the new remote reading transition. During this transition period, please note the following:

  • If your property still utilizes an old meter, please continue to read the meter quarterly and submit the reading cards to the Water Department.  Billing will be based on actual usage if readings are submitted.  Billing will be estimated if readings are not submitted.  *As usual, penalties will be incurred for properties that do not submit readings for more than three (3) consecutive quarters.
  • If your property has had a new meter installed, you do not need to submit the hard copy meter reading or enter your water reading online.  Actual water usage from the old meter has been posted to your account for billing calculation.  Water usage from the new meters will be estimated until the remote transmissions go live, at which time actual usage will be captured remotely.  *Once new meters are installed, penalties will not be incurred for non-submission of actual readings.
