  ANNUAL FAMILY EVENTS:

  • Stride for Pride: "5K Run/Walk, as our community embarks on this 3.1 mile distance activity in remembrance of September 11th, 2001.  Registration is $10 and the proceeds are donated to the 9/11 museum in NYC.  The event includes hospitality table with refreshments for runners and walkers.   


  • Town Picnic : Scheduled for the Saturday after Labor Day from 1:00- 6:00 pm at the town pool. You need not be a pool member to enjoy the food, refreshments, live music, carnival games, children’s games and neighborly fellowship.


  • Menorah Lighting & Joy, Peace, Goodwill:  The first evening of Channukah observance begins with the lighting of the Menorah.  On the first Sunday in December, is the official lighting of the tree by the Town Council.  A vist from Santa on the Fire Truck by our North Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department bringing goodies for the children attending.  Hot chocolate and cider is provided by the North Caldwell Boy Scouts.  The night will include live music from DJ Legendery, holiday joy, cookies, crafts and our annual toy drive hosted by the North Caldwell Girl Scouts.

  • Newcomer’s Night: Annual evening for an informational program sponsored by Recreation, Historical Society, Mayor and Council to acquaint our new neighbors with what North Caldwell has to offer. A packet is distributed with information on the schools, recycling, recreation, Police Department, Fire Department, Historical Society, Senior Citizens and a host of other important and interesting information new residents often need.


  • Memorial Day Parade: Held every year with the surrounding towns of Roseland, Caldwell-West Caldwell and Essex Fells. The parade commences at 9:30 am on Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell.  Mayor and councils from each of the communities as well as a grand Marshall, scouting troops, bands police and Fire Departments are in attendance. 


  • Movies at the North Caldwell Community pool: Sponsored by Municipal Alliance and Recreation Family night of movies and late night swimming happen every Thursday evenings in July at the pool. The night is opened to all residents’ regardless if they are a member of the community pool. The snack bar is opened as well.  Give aways for the children with prevention message concerning alcohol and substance abuse is part of the evening’s festivities.  The pool stays open to show your movie favorites during the twilight swimming.  Pool closes at 9:30pm.  


  • Pancake Breakfast: An annual June event sponsored by The North Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department in October. Tickets may be purchased from any volunteer fireman. It will be posted in The Progress and a sign over Gould Avenue when date becomes available.

  • DJ Splash Party: Join us for our 3rd annual Splash Down event.  The first Friday in August is for all North Caldwell residents.  Live music, swimming and fun for everyone. 

RECREATION CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS

  • Sports of All Sorts: (Spring, Fall, Winter & Summer) sponsored by the North Caldwell Recreation Department & Instructed by FirstyPlay Sports brings programs all year long. All sorts of Sports is for ages 2 1/2-5 years old as well as Grandview Schools after school K-3 programs. Children will participate in many different sports to have fun and promote teamwork such as soccer, hockey, basketball, baseball and football, as well as other activities which will be explored.


  • Take Me Out to the Ballgame: (Spring) for K-2nd grades sponsored by the North Caldwell Recreation Department & Instructed by FirstyPlay Sports.


  • Explore Science: (Spring, Fall, Winter & Summer) sponsored by the North Caldwell Recreation Department & instructed by Rachel & Craig Villanova brings programs for K-6th grades. Join and Explore Science earthworm dissection, gravity & impacts, propulsion physics & more with certified instructors in many fields. “Who dunnit?” takes C.S.I to another level learning how to crack the case, take fingerprints & solve the mystery. "Astronomy" "All About the Senses" "Chemistry"



  • Cool Crafty Art Class:  sponsored by the North Caldwell Recreation Department & instructed by Jamie Cannon of Unique Artist Company. Learn how to decorate your next occasion with handmade greeting cards, favors, gift bags, and more for any occasion.

  • Pumpkin Painting:  Our 1/2 day of school event in October.  Kid's will participate in techniques of painting pumpkins, scary designs, stencils, and decoration.  Tkae them home and decorate your room, front steps, and home for the scariest holiday of the year!  This class includes snacks, candy, prizes, puzzles, brain teasers and more! 


  • Rutger’s Babysitting Class: (Summer) sponsored by the North Caldwell Recreation Department & instructed by the Red Cross. This course is designed to give youths ages 11 or older the skills necessary to make them the babysitter every parent is looking for. The course addresses safety issues, first aid, rescue breathing and choking for infants and children, basic care, age appropriate play, behavior and decision making skills. Participants are issued an American Red Cross certification for Babysitting upon successful completion of the course.

  • Order in the Court: (Spring) sponsored by the North Caldwell Recreation Department.  For ages 1st-3rd grade instructed by Joseph Jones who is a licensed NJ attorney.  He has been practicing law for 15 years and currently has solo practice in Clifton, NJ.  He is also currently a municipal court judge.  This program will teach young children about the legal system in a fun and educational way through the use of some common fairy tales.

  • NJ ASK Tutoring Program:  Need help studying for the NJASK?  This standardized test is given to all New Jersey public-schooled students in grades 3-8th grade.  This test will be taken this year in May 2012 and is administered by the NJ Department of Education. 


  • Tennis Academy: (Spring & Fall) sponsored by the North Caldwell Recreation Departmen. For ages 3-13 including Kiddie Tennis, Level 1 Tennis & Level 2 Tennis. Learn basics, play games & learn the skill of tennis.


  • Youth Tennis Lessons: (Spring & Summer) sponsored by the North Caldwell Recreation Department. For ages 5-12 including beginner, Advance Beginner & Intermediate programs.

 

  • Quickstart Tennis:


  • Kidz Klubhouse: (Summer) sponsored by the North Caldwell Recreation Department & instructed by Coaches on the Run Rick Petrosine. A fun-filled camp which will include a variety of sports such as soccer, basketball, football & baseball. There will also be exciting arts & crafts projects and many other fun activities.

  • Petite NFL Flag Football:  instructed by FirstPlay Sports-children will engage in a non-contact, continous action sport while learning lessons in teamwork and sportsmanship.  Get your child involved in this energetic sport. 

SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS

  • Summer Fun:  Our 6 week camp for Kindergarten through 6th grade  is provided with certified Instructors who teach classes such as Arts & Crafts, Pot Luck, Cooking, Sports & Games, Talent show and more.  Our summer program goes on field trips, has many theme days, pool days and fun!  Jump in the pool and cool off for the hottest summer around!

  • Kiddy Kamp:  for 3-5 year olds.  A fun filled camp run by our very own Summer Fun staff which includes a variety of sports such as soccer, football, basketball and baseball.  There will also be exciting arts & crafts projects, water games and other fun activities. 

PRIVATE SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS:

  • NCBSA (North Caldwell Baseball/Softball Association):  T-ball, Baseball, Softball programs for 5 years old through Travel teams.  Please contact Dennis Hiel for more information.  dennis.hiel@yahoo.com  

  • Scouting:  Cub scouts registration is for boys in Grades 1st through 5th, Boy Scouts is for boys ages eleven through eighteen while Brownies and Girl Scouts are for girls in Kindergarten through sixth grade.  Please contact George Press for more information reillypress@optonline.net

  • USANC (United Soccer Association of North Caldwell): Travel Soccer Programs available.   mtcmtc@verizon.net

  • Lacrosse (Girls): 3rd through 8th grade.  This program is run in conjunction with Essex Fells, Roseland and Fairfield.  Registration is in Decemeber.  Practices being in April.  Please contact Rob Lombardy for more information RLombardySr@gmail.com

  • Wrestling:  This program is combined with sending districts of Fairfield, Roseland and Essex Fells.  Please contact Tony Pompei for information APompei@fairfieldnj.org

  ANNUAL CHILDREN'S EVENTS 

  • Haunting Halloween Party: An annual event sponsored by Municipal Drug Alliance Committee and Recreation offering an alternative way to celebrate “mischief night”. The evening’s activities for North Caldwell’s fifth and sixth grade children include pizza, snacks, soda, a DJ costume contests am candy guessing contests. West Essex High School Builder’s Club and National Honor Society volunteer their time as part of their community service.

 

  • Spring Spectacular: Annual Spring Bonnet Parade and egg hunt held at Gould School. Held rain or shine for children three through third grade held at Gould School, rain or shine. There are crafts, snacks, face painting, a special guest, egg hunt and prizes for the Spring Bonnet parade and candy guessing.


  • Baseball Opening Day Festivities: Sponsored by the North Caldwell Baseball Association. A wonderful day filled with activities, rides, vendors, food, in town tournament games, and a parade with team banners.


  • Soccer Fest: Sponsored by North Caldwell Soccer Club in conjunction with North Caldwell’s Municipal Alliance and the Recreation Department. The day held at Liberty Field includes a parade and opening ceremonies along with inflatable games, face painting, speed kick, food and drinks. It is a fun for the whole family and it’s all-free.
